Lees hier de uitnodiging van Master of Film (Nederlandse Filmacademie):

On Tuesday evening, 26 June, the Master of Film organises an exciting two hour event for professionals as part of our annual Artistic Research Week. How can methods used in artistic research in and through cinema be relevant for the field of cinema and other fields and vice versa? This event is part of the Master of Film’s Artistic Research Week. This event is free of charge. If you want to attend please RSVP with the ticketlink below.

Guests are a.o. Joost Rekveld, Mattijs van de Port, Mark-Paul Meyer, Agnese Cornelio, Chunglin Kwa and Menno Boerema and Jan.Bot (Bram Loogman and Pablo Núñez Palma). Filmmaker and scholar Eyal Sivan is the moderator of the evening.

Research across disciplines
With the Master of Film we propose that filmmakers invent and explore different approaches to research. Approaches which are playful, inventive, at times unexpected and rooted in practice. We believe that these methods, insights and outcomes of research could be relevant, not just for the development of the field of film but also for other disciplines.

This event functions as an investigation of these statements and a moment of exchange: How can methods used in artistic research in and through cinema be relevant for the field of cinema and other fields.

Two panels of experts
Two panels of film experts, curators and social scientists will review excerpts of work, discuss their methods of research and share insights on the exchange between their research and practices. We thus hope to uncover similarities and differences in approach and get an idea of the way these different fields relate to and nourish each other.

The first panel focuses on the way filmmakers and scientists work with archives and create structures or patterns to organise and activate archival footage within different contexts. Filmmakers Bram Loogman and Pablo Nunez Palma enter into a conversation with curator Mark-Paul Meyer, filmmaker Joost Rekveld about the different approaches to opening up the archive and the challenges involved.

In the second panel, theater director / filmmaker Agnese Cornelio shares excerpts from her newest film ‘Fondata Sul Lavoro’. These excerpts form the starting point for a conversation between Agnese Cornelio, editor Menno Boerema, philosopher of science Chunglin Kwa and anthropologist Mattijs van de Port on the role of performance and gesture in film, especially in relation to physical memories of work and migration.
